The goal when Kent Hughes sent Filip Mesar to his junior team, and not with the Rocket, was for him to dominate his league. After a season that was far from impressive, the CH management hoped that he would regain confidence and prolifically fill the scoresheet.

A Major Breakthrough

What a pleasant surprise!

The young Slovak seems to have gotten the message as he's having quite the start to the season with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL. In 15 games, he's already racked up 11 goals, 15 assists for a total of 26 points. He was even honored as the player of the month in the Ontario junior league.

Wow! We didn't expect it, but we love it!

The first-round pick (26th overall) in the 2022 draft had started the campaign with the Rocket, but only played two games, recording a single assist. It didn't take long before he got going with his junior team.

On November 21, the 19-year-old forward had the best game of his campaign when he completed his first hat trick, also achieving his third four-point game at this level.

The player many considered a flop before the start of the campaign has definitely doubled down to silence his critics.

The young man's season will be interesting to follow as, in addition to participating in the upcoming World Hockey Championships, Mesar has a chance to play deep into next spring as the Rangers currently lead the overall OHL standings.
