After making a major trade with the St. Louis Blues in the final minutes:
Now the New York Rangers have placed a surprising name on waivers, as reported by the excellent Chris Johnston:
"Placed on waivers today: Libor Hajek (NYR)."
"I'm told Niko Mikkola (defenseman) is also being traded to the Rangers, along with Vladimir Tarasenko, which is why Libor Hajek is surprisingly on waivers." - Frank Seravalli It's shuffling!
Hajek, who just turned 25, is a 6-foot-2, 209-pound defensively sound defenseman who the Rangers wouldn't even trade last year, imagine that.
Hajek is a 37th overall pick in the 2016 draft and looks to be a young Joel Edmundson.
He's now free as a bird because, following their major trade to acquire Tarasenko, the Rangers had to make a quick decision to free up some money on the payroll.
More details will follow.
