So that's some serious business.
Puljujarvi would really be on the verge of being submitted to waivers, and Kent Hughes might finally get the opportunity to acquire him for free.
Puljujarvi, 24, was drafted fourth overall in 2016 and has great potential.
He had a career-best season last season (36 points in 65 games), but it's been tougher for him this season (10 points in 49 games).
If this does indeed materialize, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens will be among the first to be able to claim him.
Remember that Hughes almost acquired him via a trade in the 2022 draft, according to several sources. There is absolutely no doubt that the Habs are interested.
Possibility of acquiring him for free without waiting for waivers.
Could the CH avoid waiting for their turn in the waiver wire by completing a trade by Sunday? It's a possibility and it would cost next to nothing.
It comes down to the same thing. Puljujarvi is available for free in Edmonton and Kent Hughes can pick him up immediately if he wants.
Could Hughes offer a 7th round pick or another prospect, to the Oilers, for Puljujarvi?
In short, a file to follow closely and that is about to be settled.
Puljujarvi earns $3 million and will be a free agent this summer. More details will follow.
If it was your decision, would you claim him? Would you trade for him at a discount?
