In the last few seconds, the Montreal Canadiens organization made an important announcement. It took many by surprise.

Here's an excerpt.

"The Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens, Jeff Gorton, announced on Thursday several changes to the medical team, including three promotions and two new hires.

First and foremost, Dr. David Mulder is retiring after an outstanding 60-year career with the organization and has been granted emeritus status, allowing him to continue serving as a consultant. He will be replaced by Dr. Dan Deckelbaum, who becomes the Chief Physician, while Dr. Thierry Pauyo will now be the club's Chief Orthopedic Surgeon. Additionally, Matthew Moore has been hired as a massage therapist, Daniel Chammas has been promoted to Assistant Sports Therapist, and Marie-Pierre Néron has been hired to replace him in Laval as Assistant Sports Therapist with the Rocket."

Montreal Canadiens

Dr. Mulder is retiring. It's big news and the end of an era for our Canadiens.

We wish him a splendid and well-deserved retirement.

He will be replaced by Dr. Dan Deckelbaum.

Details will follow, but here is the official announcement and the complete text.

It's a significant change, just days before the start of the season, but we are convinced that the players will still be in good hands.
