Another facet they share is the fact that they are very hard on their bodies. We already knew that about Weber, who unofficially hung up his skates after playing more than injured during the CH's long playoff run that ultimately ended in a loss in the Stanley Cup Grand Final. However, we didn't know yet that Guhle was from the same mold.
According to what Renaud Lavoie reported this Tuesday morning on BPM Sports, the young defenseman insisted on returning to the game and finishing the season despite his injury. Wow!
Big statement.
That's certainly why Guhle has been experiencing lows since his return to the game. He has a cumulative of -6 in his last 5 games, since his return to the game on March 2nd. It's also easy to understand why Bowen Byran got around him on Monday night in the CH's crushing loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
Despite this, Stephane Robidas does not hesitate to send his young defenseman into the fray very often. Never since his return to the game has he played less than 18 minutes in a game. He has even exceeded 20 minutes on three occasions (out of 5) since his return.
The only thing we have to hope for is that he doesn't fall back into combat. Too many times this season we have seen players return to the injured list after returning too soon. This unfortunate situation should not be repeated again...
