Tony Marinaro mentioned it last week, but reliable sources have been saying for a few days now that forward Cole Caufield will sign his famous big contract extension by the end of the season.
Or at least, by the end of the season review.
There's an update!
In the last few minutes, we've had a major development.
One of the most respected experts in Quebec, Marc Denis, agrees with Marinaro, and we understand that Cole Caufield's contract should be signed (and announced) by next Friday! Finally!
This is great news, and we love it!
In your opinion, what kind of contract will be announced? 8 million per year for 8 years? 9 million per year for 8 years? More? Less?
We can't wait to see, but we hope it's a long-term deal.
Unsurprisingly, Denis confirms that Caufield's injury has significantly slowed down negotiations, but things are now progressing well.
Stay tuned! An announcement is imminent, and we will announce it within seconds of the official confirmation.
Caufield, 22, has scored 26 goals in 46 games this season (36 points) and is still the Montreal Canadiens' top goal scorer in 2022-23. Which is absolutely incredible considering his serious injury.
