When news broke a few days ago that Carey Price and his entire family were planning to move back to British Columbia after the regular season, many Canadiens fans probably thought that his NHL career was over and that he had decided to move on.

This decision comes as no surprise to the organization's former vice-president of communications Donald Beauchamp. These days, it is not uncommon to see the organization's non-French speaking players leave Quebec and return home during the summer.

"The players who don't speak French and who are not from here, it's kind of normal that they go back home. We can think of Andrei Markov who played nearly 1,000 games with the Canadiens and decided to return to Russia afterwards."

On the other hand, it would be a permanent move for the family of the goalie of the Habs, which suggests to Beauchamp that his career in the NHL is probably over. If there is one who knows Carey, it is Donald Beauchamp.

He was still an employee of the CH when he joined the team and he believes that Price would be playing goalie right now if he could.

I spent 10 years with Carey Price. Knowing him, if he had his way and if he could, he'd be out there playing goalie and doing his job."

Comments that are not very reassuring for those who kept a slim hope to see the number 31 in front of the cage of the Habs.

An important statement that comes from a person who really does not speak through his hat.

We recall that Angela Price had attracted attention with a post on Instagram mentioning that the Price family would leave Quebec at the end of the 2022-2023 season to return to British Columbia, the home province of the Habs' goalie.
