The name of Brendan Gallagher is circulating more and more through rumors, he who could be a piece that Jeff Gorton will use for a trade in the coming weeks. His contract is certainly heavy, an annual average of $6.5 million until 2027. That is monstrous.
However, Elliotte Friedman believes that Brendan Gallagher will find a taker since a team will find a way to match his salary to their salary structure. Although he is now 29 years old and his offensive pace seems to be slowing down, many GMs respect his way of playing.
I remind you that prior to that, when Jeff Gorton landed, «Gally» said that he did not know what he would do if a reconstruction began. From there, one thing remains obvious: the CH will have to respect the small number 11 before doing anything involving him.
Even though it's a new org chart at the top, the Habs have a responsibility to Gallagher, who is playing his 10th season with the club. They will have to meet with him face to face to find out what his real intentions are. Does he want to leave? Does he want to remain a big brother during the reconstruction? In short, you see the way they need to handle this situation.
Gallagher is entitled to this kind of respect from the Montreal franchise.
