The Colorado Avalanche will play their first game tonight when the Chicago Blackhawks visit Denver. However, the team led by Jared Bednar will be without their best player and one of the best players in the league, Nathan MacKinnon.
Unfortunately, even though he is in great shape, MacKinnon will not be able to participate in this game as he tested positive to COVID-19 (asymptomatic) on Tuesday, having been placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol beforehand.
Joe Sakic said that "Mac", who scored 65 points in 48 games last year, will at least miss Wednesday's game. As for Saturday, when the Avalanche will host the St. Louis Blues, it's too early to tell.
Sad start to the campaign for #29....
