It was Jordan Subban, the brother of P.K. Subban, who was the victim of the unfortunate act during the meeting between the Jacksonville Icemen and the South Carolina Stingrays.
«Panetta was too much of a coward to fight with me and as soon as I turned my back, he started doing monkey gestures so I hit him in the face several times and he retracted like the coward he is,» Jordan Subban said on Twitter.
P.K. did not take too long to react to this gesture which has no place and which, unfortunately, still happens too often.
«They don't call it the «East Coast League», because my brother and the other black players are monkeys! Hey, Jacob Panetta, you shouldn't erase your Twitter and Instagram accounts, you're probably gonna be able to play again. That's the story, but things change. It's not just the hockey planet that knows your true colours. Your hometown of Belleville knows that, your family and friends know that you're an imposter. With all that's been going on in the world in the last few years, I would respectfully say that your act was not just a mistake. We all know what's right and what's wrong. Even your own teammates wanted you back in place. It happens a lot, and it's never displayed in lower leagues. One thing I loved was the fact that Jordan's teammates stayed there and put up with it. I love it! People who yell the famous word «N» is a nice addition to all of this...»
Severe sanctions may be imposed on the perpetrator. Clearly, this type of action must stop completely, whether in hockey or in the general population.
Malcolm Subban, brother of Jordan and P.K., also came to the defense of his younger on his Twitter account.
«When is it going to end?»
