With a hectic summer ahead in the NHL, many teams will have big decisions to make, such as the Montreal Canadiens, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Boston Bruins.
They will possibly have to prepare the "post-Patrice Bergeron" and it will be really interesting to watch.
On this subject, there have just been several interesting statements, especially from the Bruins' management.
They are clear: Patrice Bergeron's wish will be granted this summer, no matter what his wish is. They have absolutely no intention of trying to influence him and Bergeron will control his destiny 100%.
If he wants to leave, he can leave in peace, if he wants a role in the organization, he will have one, if he wants a one-year contract, he will have a one-year contract, if he wants a three-year contract, he will have a three-year contract, and so on.
Really a great show of class from the Bruins, towards one of the greats in their history.
Either way, they are ready:
"I think everyone (on the Bruins) has been preparing for this for a while (Bergeron's departure) and I think they're hoping he decides to play, but I think they're definitely prepared for the possibility that he won't." - Elliotte Friedman
