During the summer, many rumors were circulating, and it involved Quebec forward Pierre-Luc Dubois and the Montreal Canadiens.

These rumors were that Kent Hughes and the Habs had shown serious interest in Dubois, which created a big buzz around town.

There's news

In his most recent article on The Athletic, renowned tipster Pierre LeBrun addressed this topic, and he confirmed this big rumor. Check out some of the important parts:

"Information came out publicly last summer that Dubois did not want to sign long-term with the Jets. He will be RFA again next summer, with salary arbitration, and one season away from full autonomy. Makes you think of the Matthew Tkachuk file and the circumstances surrounding his departure from Calgary. [...]

If the Jets fall apart and slip out of the playoff race, maybe Dubois could be traded at the trade deadline, but as long as Winnipeg is in a position to compete for a playoff spot, it will have to wait until this summer. [...]

I can confirm that the Habs have shown interest, already, in acquiring Dubois. They would definitely be among the teams that will try to acquire him if he is made available." - Pierre LeBrun

So that confirms that the rumors are true and that the Montreal Canadiens are really seriously interested in acquiring Dubois. However, before thinking about that, the Quebec forward will have to make a decision on his future in Winnipeg, as Matthew Tkachuk did with the Calgary Flames.

Would you like Kent Hughes to sign Dubois in 2024 or would he try to acquire him this summer, like he did with Kirby Dach last summer?
