Players eligible for salary arbitration had until 5:00 p.m. today to formalize their request with the NHL. It appears that Patrik Laine and Pierre-Luc Dubois have decided not to exercise their right to arbitration.
With this decision, Dubois will therefore accept the qualifying offer that the Jets recently offered him. According to the Capfriendly calculator, the $6.65 million one-year offer will move him closer to full autonomy, which will occur as soon as the 2023-2024 season ends.
The 24-year-old is coming off a two-season contract that paid him $10 million. He had 28 goals and 60 points in 81 games last season, his first full season with the Jets after being traded to them in January 2021.
According to the latest rumors, Dubois is still on the radar of Kent Hughes. We even recently learned from his agent that he absolutely wants to play for the CH in the next few years. It will be interesting to see if this decision to refuse arbitration will bring him closer to Montreal...
