Kent Hughes has talked a lot in the last few hours with various media outlets, and there are two things I remember. The first, a captain will be appointed for next season. The second, if a new player wears the «C», we understand even more the future status of Shea Weber.
The simple fact is, Weber, as the rumours suggest, will most likely not come back, so Mr. Hughes wants to move on quickly. I love that man's proactivity!
That said, according to a survey by Mathias Brunet, the four potential candidates are Brendan Gallagher, Nick Suzuki, Joel Edmundson and Tyler Toffoli. Those are the four I see, but I would also add Josh Anderson. In Gallagher's case, he could leave, and if he stays, I wouldn't pass on him.
A spark plug on the ice and a leader everywhere, whether in the locker room or behind the scenes at hotels, is not the same game.
At the moment, out of nearly 3,000 respondents, Nick Suzuki is leading the fight with a percentage of 48.4%. An excellent choice, but mine, as you know, is Joel Edmundson. He is the only one who has an aura and a presence similar to Weber. Ask Jeff Petry if he misses this...
In short, who do you think deserves to win one of the toughest roles in the Montreal Canadiens?
