Shocking Statement from Jonathan Drouin Regarding the Montreal Canadiens
Jonathan Drouin's stint with the Canadiens ended yesterday as the Quebecois forward agreed with the Colorado Avalanche on the terms of a one-season contract worth $825,000 annually.
Unfortunately for the Tricolore's fans who were hoping that Jonathan Drouin would become the future offensive star of the club when Marc Bergevin acquired him, his tenure in Montreal has been rather chaotic. Plagued by numerous injuries and disappointing performances, the 28-year-old forward has never been able to meet the expectations placed upon him.
After two very encouraging seasons where Jonathan Drouin scored 34 goals and 65 assists (99 points) in 150 games, the player native to Sainte-Agathe was never able to surpass the 30-point mark in his four subsequent campaigns.
Having signed a 6-year contract with an annual value of $5.5 million, the forward quickly became the target of numerous criticisms from fans, so much so that Drouin had to take a break to take care of his mental health.
However, during his press conference in Colorado today, the former Canadiens' forward made a major statement about his time with the Montreal organization, which greatly surprised many fans.
"I would never tell a Quebecer not to come play in Montreal. Even after six years, at the Bell Centre, I still had butterflies in my stomach." - Jonathan Drouin, who says he grew up with the Canadiens
Wow! It feels good to hear such comments from Jonathan Drouin!
One thing is for sure, we strongly hope that he will be able to revitalize his career alongside his good friend, Nathan MacKinnon.
