As the hiring process for the next GM continues to move forward, Jeff Gorton needs to start thinking about the plan he and his future partner will be working on in the coming months and years.
The JiC Twitter account at TVA Sports published a survey of fans who would like to see a plan launched soon. Of the four choices, 50.2% voted for a «New York style» reconstruction, lasting about three years.
Recall that Jeff Gorton is in known ground with this kind of reconstruction, he had been the architect of many changes in a very short time with the Rangers between 2018 and 2020, most of which had bear fruit, and thus allowed the organization to move back in fairly quickly.
For the rest of the survey, the second option with the most votes was a complete five-year reconstruction (25.9%), followed by a two-year «reset on the fly» (12.1%) and finally, to go all-in to do the playoffs as soon as next year.
These results prove that Montreal fans are tired of seeing their team stagnate and want change, even if it means waiting for three to
five years to achieve some success. However, it is certainly easier said than done, and I would like to see how they react if the Canadian were to actually experience a few consecutive seasons in the shallows.
Would we always talk about patience without flinching? To follow...
