Even though Jake Allen is healthy, the organization just announced that Samuel Montembeault will get his fourth straight start. Wow (an appearance in a 5th straight game)
We're obviously seeing a real changing of the guard in front of the Tricolore net, and it's obviously a slap in the face to the veteran Allen, but he'll definitely bounce back.
It's a strong message he just got, but he's always responded well. We can't wait to see the result in his next start, but tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Montembeault will be back in the lineup.
Montembeault, 26, has a 13-14-3 record, a 3.36 GAA and a .904 SV%.
Allen, 32, has a 14-23-3 record, a 3.56 GAA and a .892 SVR.
It looks like the Montreal Canadiens have a new #1 goalie!
Allen, for the moment, unfortunately seems to have lost the confidence of his head coach Martin St-Louis.
More details will follow.
