In the last few minutes, the Arizona Coyotes have released four players, including a surprising name. A name well-known to fans.
We are talking about Austin Strand, Patrick Harper, Ryan Dzingel, and none other than Olli Juolevi.
Juolevi, 25 years old, was the 5th overall pick in the 2016 draft, imagine that.
He was drafted just after Pierre-Luc Dubois, and ahead of names like Matthew Tkachuk, Clayton Keller, and Mikhail Sergachev. We have been hopeful for several years that he would break out, but it hasn't happened.
Juolevi has played 41 career games in the NHL, and he accumulated 14 points in 38 games last season in the AHL.
It will be interesting to see if another team will give him a chance or not.
This would be the kind of acquisition for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, given his history as a fifth overall pick, but we are convinced that Hughes and Gorton will "pass" this time.
More details to follow.
