Let's recall that at the beginning of the summer, a major trade agreed upon between the St-Louis Blues and the Philadelphia Flyers was canceled at the last second.

Why?

According to information reported by the reputable Pierre LeBrun, from TSN, defender Torey Krug was identified as the player who refused to waive his no-trade clause (and who caused the trade to be canceled).

The transaction had been settled between the general managers!

In the last few minutes, the veteran defender finally revealed the true reason behind this refusal.

In short, see Krug's comments:

«I chose to stay here. I want to be a part of this locker room; I love playing for this city and wearing the logo.»

«It makes me anxious. You obviously don't like hearing things like that. I have kids, a family, a lot to think about. But in the end, as I said, I want to play here and wear [the Blues' jersey]. We have a good group in the locker room, and we have a good feeling about this year. I think we can turn things around quickly.»

As for his captain Brayden Schenn, he added this:

«He didn't want to be traded to a team where he felt he had less chance of winning, let's put it that way. Philadelphia is in a rebuilding phase, and we think we can be competitive here.»

There you have it!

Krug, 32 years old, scored 32 points in 63 games last season. He earns 6.5 million dollars per season until 2027.
