Michael Pezzetta managed to stay relatively healthy last season, playing 63 games with the Habs. However, with the strong forward congestion and the return of several players, it could be challenging for Martin St-Louis to find him a spot in the top 12 for the upcoming season.
Suzuki, Gallagher, Anderson, Hoffman, Dvorak, Armia, Dach, Newhook, Evans, Pitlick, Harvey-Pinard, Pezzetta, Caufield, Monahan, Slafkovsky, and possibly Owen Beck and Sean Farrell... They can't all play in Montreal.
That's a lot of forwards, and we haven't even mentioned Joshua Roy and company, who could surprise at camp.
Pezzetta, already linked to waivers by some, signed a two-year contract with the team and will really need to have a strong camp to earn his spot and avoid being placed on waivers by Kent Hughes.
It's indeed possible that the Canadiens are considering waiving Pezzetta to assign him to Laval in a few months.
This will be a situation to keep an eye on.
It's true that there is a lot of congestion in the forward positions, but let's not forget what "Pezz" can bring. He's notably the only one who stood up for his goalie against Zach Kassian.
Two sequences that sparked a strong reaction:
