The Anaheim Ducks manhandled the Ottawa Senators by a score of 4-0 yesterday afternoon. It was a great performance from youngsters Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras, plus goalie Anthony Stolarz was sensational.
However, despite a monster performance by his team, head coach Dallas Eakins was not satisfied with Troy Terry's (23 points in 20 games) effort to get a fifth goal for his team.
The reason? Eakins was desperate for his team to score five goals so the fans at the Honda Center would get free chicken wings...
"We were really disappointed tonight because the fans wanted chicken and Troy Terry was not able to provide it, who had an excellent chance to score."
On the other hand, Eakins was keen to point out the colossal work of his fourth line late in the game to get that famous fifth goal.
"Then Grant, Deslauriers and Carrick gave it their all at the end to try to give the fans some chicken."
A reporter asked him afterwards if he really believed that fans would want to eat chicken the day after Thanksgiving. Remember, the traditional Thanksgiving meal is turkey.
The head coach's response was quite comical.
"We didn't want to leave any birds out ."
