In the last few seconds, according to information reported by Tony Marinaro, two employees of the Montreal Canadiens have been relieved of their duties.

This is news that is causing a lot of reactions, because the two men targeted by these layoffs are Donald Balmforth and Graham Rynbend, who were respectively the chief physiotherapist and the chief sports therapist.

They are probably two victims of the massive wave of injuries that hit the club last season. (and the previous season)

"Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes both highlighted the importance of assessing how the Habs' injuries have been [poorly] managed over the last two seasons during their end-of-season press conference in April..."

From April 14th - Habs GM Kent Hughes on how injuries are handled: "we can have all the greatest plans in the world but if we don't find a way to improve what is going on from a medical standpoint, we will never build a winner here - it's definitely frontline for us.»

Clearly, they concluded that it was better for the organization to act, and that led to today's announcement.

More details to follow.
