The arrival of Chantal Machabée and the new staff has done the organization a world of good in terms of image. The message to the fans and the media has been improved and a certain transparency can be seen within the franchise.
It seems, however, that this transparency has gone backwards in one important area: the disclosure of players' salaries. As the Fanadiens reminds us, since July 13, the Tricolore has not disclosed the salaries of any of its latest signings. Both for newcomers and for contract extensions.
This is quite surprising when you consider that even Marc Bergevin, who did not like to reveal too much, had flinched at this level and revealed the full terms of his agreements. It should be noted that most other NHL teams add this information in their announcement...
The simple disclosure of salaries would avoid unnecessary speculation, because even if the organization does not mention everything, the NHL informers will do so a few minutes later. A delay that does not seem to be appreciated by the people who compile the information on the Capfriendly site...
Here's another example:
It would be interesting to know what prompts the CH people to keep this information...
