Every Habs fan has probably circled May 10th on their calendar because of the lottery for the first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, which will be held at the Bell Centre on July 7th and 8th.
My colleague Alexandre Desrosiers of RumorsandTransaction.com reports on the new odds of getting the very first pick in the 2022 auction.
The 32nd overall NHL team now has an 18.5% chance of getting the first pick, while for the 31st and 30th ranked teams, the chances are 13.5% and 11.5% respectively.
And "good news" for Habs fans, the Arizona Coyotes are now ahead of the CH at 31st in the NHL.
Martin St-Louis' team is now ranked 32nd and last in the League. This means that the Habs are now well positioned to get the first pick in the draft in front of their fans.
According to most experts, center Shane Wright is the favorite to become the first pick in the 2022 draft. This season, he scored 94 points, including 32 goals with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Junior League.
You can even have fun doing the lottery yourself at tankathon.com.
So it's a date on Tuesday, May 10 to find out where the Habs will select in the upcoming NHL draft.
By losing tomorrow and Friday, Montreal can secure the final spot in the standings.
