It's done, Jack Eichel is no longer the captain of the Buffalo Sabres, which indicates that he should never play another game with this organization. I remind you that this rumor was spread all over the web during the day on Wednesday.
"I talked to Jack two days ago, I talked to the team yesterday and I addressed it, Jack Eichel is no longer the captain of the Buffalo Sabres. From our perspective, the captain is the heartbeat of your team, and we're in a situation where we felt we had to make that decision," said Kevyn Adams.
So Adams and the Sabres were supposed to make a decision on the captain, but he's stalling on another issue - getting Eichel out of Buffalo. We all know the love affair is over between the two parties.
Hey, taking the "C" off a player doesn't happen every day. Quickly, I think of Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Dustin Brown, who had this letter of nobility taken away once upon a time.
All in all, it's absolutely true that the captain of a hockey team remains the heart of the locker room, so this was the direction to take for the Sabres.
