With the implementation of the new management at the Montreal Canadiens and the deadline for trades that is fast approaching, we must prepare to see faces leave the organization.
As Kent Hughes said at his first official press briefing, there will be changes. When we think of the word «change», we think of trade.
Who will be the first player traded by the new GM? Insider Elliotte Friedman believes it will be defenseman Ben Chiarot who will have to pack up.
Number 8 has been in demand for a few weeks in the NHL, so it should come as no surprise if the NHL takes action in the coming weeks. With a potential return that would include a first-round pick, it would become very interesting for the Habs to send the robust defenseman under other skies.
Some aspiring teams will look to add strength, leadership and consistency to their blue line in preparation for the playoffs. Ben Chiarot is the kind of player who raises his game a notch during important moments, so in my opinion, its value is priceless.
He will become a free agent without restrictions at the end of the 2021-2022 season.
