Over the past few hours and days, there has been some movement among the Montreal Canadiens' goaltenders.

First of all, we had some big news regarding Carey Price:

And also, let's remember that Samuel Montembault has signed a brand new two-year, one-way contract.

These two pieces of news lead many observers to wonder about the future of Jake Allen in Montreal, who has been frequently mentioned in trade rumours this summer and who is generating a lot of interest in the league.

In short, despite all this, everything indicates that the verdict is already in on Allen's future with the Tricolore, at least for next season.

"We always have to leave room for a turnaround and other possibilities, but, a source from the Montreal Canadiens tells me it's very unlikely they'll trade Jake Allen, especially with the uncertainty around Carey Price. [...]" - Darren Dreger

And there you have it!

It's true that, despite Stephane Waite's very encouraging statements, we really can't say that Carey Price's case is settled and that he'll play 55-60 games for the CH next year. Allen can therefore bring an interesting stability.

At 31 years old, Jake Allen played 35 games for the Montreal Canadiens (in 2021-22), he maintained a goals-against-average of 3.30, a 0.905% efficiency rate and a 9-20-4 record.

He was acquired by the CH on September 2, 2020 with a seventh round pick in 2022 (Miguel Tourigny) in exchange for:

- 2020 third round pick (Dylan Peterson)
- 2020 seventh round pick (Chase Bradley).

If it was your decision, would you trade Jake Allen?
