Several rumors send Tony DeAngelo to the Montreal Canadiens to fill the hole left vacant by Shea Weber, who will be absent during the next campaign. Tony D is a perfect "facilitator" on the power play, he moves the puck well. On the other hand, his attitude and the racist comments he has made in the past make him an unattractive player. I would also like to remind you that he bickered with his former Rangers teammates during the last schedule.
That being said, according to the information shared by Renaud Lavoie, we don't have to worry anymore since DeAngelo will not suddenly arrive in the Montreal organization. Several sources have confirmed to Lavoie that these rumors were false. From there, everything indicates that Chris Wideman could become a candidate for the right flank. We're talking here...
I remind you that following the event involving goaltender Alexandar Georgiev, the Rangers removed DeAngelo from the picture and sent him away from the organization. By the way, Chris Drury bought out his contract last weekend, with two years left on his deal ($9.6 million) that he signed in 2020.
In short, the man who exploded offensively in the 2019-20 campaign, with a 53-point, 15-goal performance in 68 games, will not be the cornerstone of the Habs' powerplay in 2021-22. But he appears to be headed to Carolina as he's eager to play under Rod Brind'Amour.
