In the context of the most recent series between the Peterborough Petes and the London Knights, we have come to see Montreal Canadiens' prospect, Owen Beck, in a different light.
Even though he didn't put up extraordinary offensive stats, and even if he made more of a splash with his physical play, his head coach said he was extremely pleased with Beck's performance.
They want to turn him into a Ryan O'Reilly, and it seems like he's on the right track in that regard.
Of course, in the London camp (Beck and the Petes' adversaries), there is a certain Logan Mailloux, another highly prized Canadiens prospect.
We've just learned a good one, thanks to the work of Charles-Alexis Brisebois.
There was a conflict between Beck and Mailloux
Indeed, there would have been a conflict between Owen Beck and Logan Mailloux, so much so that Beck's father had to get involved.
He wrote to his son to remind him that it was all well and good the hits and the altercations with Mailloux, but that he shouldn't forget they were going to be teammates with the Canadiens.
"There was a conflict with Logan, so much so that my father was worried about all our discussions and scuffles."
"It's a bit strange after such a competitive series to find ourselves on the same team." - Owen Beck
Let's put this in the category of amusing and light anecdotes. There's absolutely no controversy here, it's perfectly normal for two competitors to "hate" each other on the ice, and they can very well become best friends in the world, or at least, good teammates, in a few months at Habs training camp.
