Last night, during the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the San Jose Sharks, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, sent spies to watch some specific players.

Interesting representatives of the Montreal Canadiens were indeed present at the game, as reported by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.

Who is the CH currently watching? Some fans are mentioning Erik Karlsson's name, but we doubt it at this point.

Here are some suggestions:

- Young defensemen Timothy Liljegren and Rasmus Sandin (Toronto)
- Forward Nick Robertson (Toronto)

Robertson is probably the most realistic. He is exactly the kind of player that Kent Hughes likes a lot and wants to acquire via trade.

We're talking about a young player with a lot of skill and speed, who has a lot of potential and is looking for a fresh start, while his current head coach isn't really allowing him to flourish right now.

A guy like Joel Edmundson could certainly help (and interest) the Toronto team, which is short on veterans and defensemen.

In short, this is pure speculation.

The purpose of this article is to inform you about the Montreal Canadiens representatives who were sent to Toronto last night to look at some players.

Engvall, Kerfoot and Bunting are other players that stand out. To be continued.

Robertson, 21, has 5 points in 12 games this season, and Leafs fans are clamouring (hard) for him to play more. He has 30 points in his last 30 AHL games.

He will try to follow in the footsteps of his impressive brother, Jason (Dallas Stars).
