Trading Carey Price may be simpler than you think

When Jeff Gorton appeared before the media, he never indicated that Carey Price was an untouchable and that he would rebuild around him. To me, that means something, that number 31 is not cemented here.

Obviously, Gorton is a very respectful man, so in the next few days, unless he has already done so, he will open a discussion with Price to find out his real intentions. Does he want to stay and watch this rebuild? If he wants to win before he retires, he will certainly have to leave.

Then, since he already lifted his no-trade clause during the expansion draft (Seattle), he is most likely ready to lift it again so that his boss can allow him to be with a contender.

By the way, let's not forget one crucial thing: trading a monster deal worth $10.5 million a year through 2026 doesn't happen by subtly shouting "scissors!"

Except that since Gorton has an unblemished reputation throughout the NHL and has a ton of good contacts, it shouldn't be as hard as you think to "pass" Carey Price in a future deal.

Alexandre Picard, via TVA Sports, had this to say about Jeff Gorton's skill set:

"I think Jeff Gorton has enough contacts throughout the National Hockey League to make a good trade and get a lot in return for Carey Price."

In any case, as we mentioned here a few days ago, keep a close eye on the Edmonton Oilers for our golden boy!
