As the Montreal Canadiens' training camp and rookie tournament are finally about to begin in about ten days, please note that there will be two significant absences.

Two young players we are eagerly anticipating to see in action, but we will have to wait.

Hutson and Fowler Absent

Unsurprisingly, young goalie Jacob Fowler, drafted in the 3rd round in 2023 by the Canadiens, will be absent, as will the young sensation Lane Hutson.

We had many questions about them, so here's a brief overview.

Hutson and Fowler will indeed be absent. They are not currently under contract with the Habs, and their university (NCAA) session has already begun.

We are also very excited to see them in action this season, respectively with Boston University and Boston College.

Hutson, 19 years old, 62nd overall pick by the Canadiens in 2022, collected 48 points in 39 games last season in the NCAA. He is poised for another absolutely dazzling season, before making the jump to the NHL at the end of the season.

Fowler, 18 years old, 69th overall pick by the Canadiens in 2023, will be making his NCAA debut.

We will definitely keep you updated on their progress and respective seasons over the coming months.

Best of luck to Lane and Jacob this season!
