A trade in the works with the CH and via Hughes' phone?
The chances of the Habs making a trade before the holidays are high, because as Jeff Drouin of Danslescoulisses.com reports, Kent Hughes' phone is not going anywhere these days.
At least that's what host Jean-Charles Lajoie said on his show JiC on TVA Sports.
During a discussion he had with Marc-Andre Perreault, he revealed that Kent Hughes spends a lot of time on his cell phone and that it could very well be that a defenseman will soon be traded by the organization.
As we know, Michael Matheson has been back in the game lately and has settled into a rotation on defense. When a youngster of the quality of a Jordan Harris has to be left out, it shows that there is congestion on the defensive brigade and that changes are needed.
Kent Hughes seems to be working hard to get a deal done.
Lajoie also added that the Habs are looking much more at acquiring draft picks or young prospects instead of going after a veteran who can help the team. He mentioned that defenseman Joel Edmundson could be the next to go, as he will be an uncompensated free agent at the end of next season.
While we all know the players that could be traded due to their contract status, with the Habs surprising performance so far this season, Hughes has a lot more time to evaluate his team to see if they could be in the playoff picture in a few months or in a more precarious position.
