The position of general manager of the Montreal Canadiens is still vacant, but it should be filled by the end of January. The process is underway, and the search committee composed of Geoff Molson, Jeff Gorton, Michael Andlauer and Bob Gainey has put together a long list.
Among this list, three women would be on it, according to the information delivered by Marc-Antoine Godin and Arpon Basu, of "The Athletic". This is a nice gesture from Molson, who has clearly indicated his desire to improve the diversity within the Montreal Canadiens' organization chart.
Yes, women will be interviewed, probably Danielle Sauvageau and Emilie Castonguay, but that doesn't mean they will be hired. The mission of the Montreal Canadiens is to hire the best candidate, whether it be a man or a woman.
In short, in my eyes, meeting with women is such a step in the right direction, that is, choosing the best person, regardless of gender.
