Acquisition alert on offense for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens organization has just added another name to its watchlist after the 2024 draft.
Forward Alexander Zetterberg, who many believed should have been drafted last Saturday but wasn't, has just been added to the Canadiens' roster for the rookie development camp.
Interesting! It's rare for a team to add such a good player as an undrafted skater after a draft.
It's almost like getting a free draft pick, and it's really interesting to see that Zetterberg chose to accept Montreal's invitation.
He certainly received several other invitations from other NHL teams.
Alexander Zetterberg added to the Montreal Canadiens' list
He is a name to watch this week.
«Alexander Zetterberg is invited to the Canadiens' development camp.
A (very) small forward who performed very well at the U18 tournament.
I was surprised he wasn't selected in the draft despite his small size!»
- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
He was ranked quite high for the 2024 draft.
«The Canadiens invited forward Alexander Zetterberg to their development camp.
Zetterberg was the 30th best prospect in Europe according to the NHL Central Scouting. He wasn't drafted in Vegas.
He will play at Boston University this year. He is not Henrik's son.»
- J-F Chaumont
It will be really interesting to see him at Boston University in the NCAA, and already in North America!
Zetterberg, 18 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and 158 pounds, collected a very solid 58 points in 45 games in Sweden this season. With a strong 2024-2025 season in the NCAA, he could become a very promising name for the NHL.
Details to follow.
