The Canadiens have just announced the return of Quebec forward Nicolas Guay, who had been playing in Slovakia since the start of the season.
Here is the official statement from the Trois-Rivières Lions:
Guay is thus back within the Montreal Canadiens' structure, and like some past players (such as Alex Belzile), he will strive to climb the ranks.
Nicolas Guay, a 25-year-old forward from Chateauguay, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 185 pounds.
He collected 5 points in 11 games this season in Slovakia, following seasons where he recorded 23 points in 36 games and 47 points in 72 games with the Trois-Rivières Lions.
He was one of the team's stronger forwards in recent years.
Guay also had an impressive journey in the QMJHL, notably racking up 87 points in just 64 games (40 goals) in 2019 with the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
The young forward certainly possesses offensive talent, and it will be interesting to see if he can eventually rise through the ranks.
Welcome back to the organization, Nicolas!
He's a player to watch in the coming months and, who knows, potentially for the next Montreal Canadiens training camp.
If players like Joshua Roy, Owen Beck, and/or Alex Barré-Boulet are eventually called up by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens, then players like Nicolas Guay could be brought in to strengthen the Laval Rocket.
It's certainly worthwhile to know who they are.
More details to come.
