While some analysts believe that a contract buyout is inevitable for forward Brendan Gallagher, here is an interesting publication.

Personally, I do not think Kent Hughes should buy out Gallagher's contract at the moment, especially after his strong end of the season, even though his $6.5 million per year is quite heavy.

In the last few minutes, the reputable resource CapFriendly has published the list of players most at risk of contract buyouts.

List of the most probable buyout candidates among NHL players: Brendan Gallagher and Jesperi Kotkaniemi involved

See the list in question. In addition to Gallagher, there is indeed another name you know well:

« The first NHL buyout period opens the later of June 15th or 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final ends.

Here are the most popular buyouts:

1. J. Kotkaniemi
2. I. Mikheyev
3. J. Campbell
4. D. Nurse
5. J. Skinner
6. V. Nichushkin
7. C. Atkinson
8. B. Gallagher»

- CapFriendly

It is sad to see him on this list and in this publication, and Brendan Gallagher must certainly be feeling the heat, unfortunately, but I think it would be a mistake to do it immediately.

He can still fill a role and occupy a useful spot in the organization, as Martin St-Louis would say.

At 32 years old, Gallagher has 426 points, including 218 goals, in 752 NHL games, an impressive career for a player selected in the fifth round in 2010.

He finished his season with 10 points in 8 games, including 5 goals! That is very solid and promises well for next season.
