Mailloux disagrees with the decision made by the Canadiens to cut him and opens up publicly
The young Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Logan Mailloux, has just made an interesting public statement.
As you know, earlier this week, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton made significant decisions, as Logan Mailloux, Adam Engstrom, Jakub Dobes, and Joshua Roy were cut and sent down to the Laval Rocket.
After Roy yesterday:
It was then Mailloux's turn to comment on the decision.
Logan Mailloux would not have made the same decision as the Montreal Canadiens and believed he had done enough to stay in the NHL
From his comments, it's clear that Mailloux feels he deserved a spot in Montreal to start the 2024-2025 season, and in his opinion, he had done enough. However, he also seems motivated to return to the big club as quickly as possible.
It will be really interesting to watch his start of the season under the leadership of Pascal Vincent.
He even added that Mailloux seemed less enthusiastic than his teammate Joshua Roy.
«If Joshua Roy spoke about consistency and hard work with a good mindset after his first training session with the Rocket, Logan Mailloux had similar words but did not show the same 'enthusiasm.'» - JdeM
He continued:
«More sharp about being sent to Laval to start the season, the defenseman believed he had done enough during the Canadiens' camp. This, despite being more critical and tough on himself in his evaluation.»
- JdeM
He still seemed visibly disappointed by the decision made by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton (and you can certainly understand why).
His plan was clearly to play in Montreal, and he believes he probably should have been in Montreal for the season opener, but it will be up to him to prove it on the ice.
And we are confident that he will, with style!
At just 21 years old, Mailloux is still very young, and this is only the beginning for him.
We will see him in Montreal sooner rather than later, especially if he continues his impressive progression.
