Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens might have just acquired their next number one center, according to recent reports.
The young Ivan Demidov, acquired by the Habs a little over two weeks ago in the 2024 draft, has just made an interesting statement.
He would like to be a center!
«Ivan Demidov says he is perfectly comfortable playing center or wing' and he expressed that he prefers playing center.»
«Ivan Demidov also added that he believes he is more involved in the game as a center.»

This will be a very interesting situation to monitor, but against all odds, Kent Hughes and the Habs might have just acquired their next number one center in Ivan Demidov.
Ivan Demidov as the #1 center for the Montreal Canadiens? He is open to the idea
It should be noted that Nick Suzuki is already a solid #1 center and that Demidov on the wing could be excellent, but it's a possibility to keep in mind, especially since it comes directly from the young player.
Ivan Demidov, 18 years old, 6 feet 1 inch and 192 pounds, was the 5th overall pick for the Canadiens in 2024. He amassed 60 points in 30 games last season in the MHL.
He is technically listed as a right winger, but obviously, his value could increase drastically if he became a complete center.
To be continued.
