Due to the process leading up to the 2023 NHL Draft, we've come to know the young player quite well, enough to understand that he has a rather unpredictable and spontaneous personality.
This could make him a very entertaining player in interviews.
Notably, in the past few hours, Michkov spoke about the top Montreal Canadiens prospect, Ivan Demidov, and mentioned this:
Those are some kind words toward the Canadiens' 5th overall pick in 2024.
This also aligns with the report published earlier this summer by RMNB, which stated that Matvei Michkov would really like to play with Ivan Demidov in the NHL (even though he can't).
For now, he's with the Philadelphia Flyers, and I'm sure Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will do everything in their power to ensure Demidov stays with the Montreal Canadiens for a very, very long time.
Demidov and Michkov know each other well, notably from playing together in the SKA program in their homeland.
Michkov graduated to the KHL faster, but he's also a year older than Demidov.
It will be interesting to follow their respective careers, and it's nice to know they'll be able to stay in touch to support each other during this period of significant changes for them.
Speaking of the Flyers' young prodigy, let's not forget that Daniel Brière "expects a tough season" for Matvei Michkov.
And you, what are your expectations for their debuts in the NHL?
