Montreal journalist claims Carey Price doesn't deserve to have his jersey retired
Recently, the issue of Carey Price's possible jersey retirement has resurfaced in discussions surrounding the Montreal Canadiens.
Price, who was long considered the best goaltender in the world, hasn't played since 2022 and is technically retired.
What is his legacy? Will his jersey number one day be raised to the rafters of the Bell Centre?
Personally, I have absolutely no doubt.
Yes, Carey Price deserves this honor.
However, not all experts and journalists in Montreal share this opinion.
Brian Wilde believes Carey Price hasn't done enough to have his jersey retired by the Montreal Canadiens
Indeed, Carey Price was never able to win the Stanley Cup.
Despite that, a certain Ken Dryden is absolutely convinced that Carey Price «very clearly» deserves to have his number retired.
However, in the latest episode of Tony Marinaro's podcast, journalist Brian Wilde doesn't see it the same way as Ken Dryden.
For him, Price hasn't done enough to deserve having his jersey raised to the rafters of the Bell Centre:
«Carey Price was excellent. But at the end of the day, he has a Vezina, a Hart And a lot of wins.»
- Brian Wilde
According to him, to deserve this honor (jersey retirement), one must have won a Stanley Cup.
And you, which side of the question are you on?
Do you believe that Carey Price's number 31 should be retired by the Montreal Canadiens?
