Player set to leave the Canadiens organization according to source
The General Manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, is officially on the verge of letting go of a forward from his organization.
Philippe Maillet, 31 years old, is currently under contract with the CH and earns $775,000 per year, but he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer (UFA).
According to a source, he would return to play in the KHL and leave Montreal.
"Philippe Maillet would return to the KHL, according to a source."
This will be a file to follow, and we are waiting for official confirmation, but everything indicates that he will change address.
Maillet, a native of Lachenaie, is a 5-foot-10 center. He has been excellent for the Laval Rocket this season, having collected 47 points, including 19 goals, in 61 games.
Last season, he had collected 53 points, including 22 goals, in 66 games in the KHL.
A file to follow, but it would be really good if Kent Hughes could find a way to keep him in town, in Laval.
