We have action within the Montreal Canadiens organization this July as Kent Hughes and John Sedgwick have a major announcement.

According to the excellent Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports, the Habs could make a major announcement as early as today.

«I've been whispered that an announcement is imminent for the head coach position of the Laval Rocket. Some candidates have learned in the last few hours that they did not get the job.»

- Anthony Marcotte

We will have our answer in the coming hours, and as of the latest news, it was down to Sylvain Favreau and Serge Aubin, according to information from Marco Normandin.

Is the next head coach of the Laval Rocket being named today?

The Canadiens would have finally chosen the one who will replace Jean-François Houle, who left his position as head coach of the Rocket last month, just days after signing a contract extension.

Renaud Lavoie had revealed the exact reason.

«J-F Houle had an opportunity to become a coach at Clarkson University.

An opportunity that does not come often, as he played at the university level for this team. The Laval Rocket will eventually hire a new coach who will surely be Quebecois and work well with young players.»

It must be mentioned that this is an extremely important role within the Habs organization, being the head coach of the Laval Rocket, as this person has the very important mandate of properly preparing and developing young players for the Montreal Canadiens.

Details to follow.

And you, who would be your choice for this head coach position of the Montreal Canadiens' farm team?
