In the case of Gorton, it's a very pleasant surprise.
«The pre-draft availability for the media will take place tomorrow (Thursday) in Las Vegas, and it will be with the Montreal Canadiens' Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Jeff Gorton. General Manager Kent Hughes will hold a press conference on Friday evening after the conclusion of the first round of 2024.» - Priyanta Emrith
Obviously, we shouldn't expect him to reveal the organization's plans with the 5th overall pick, but it will be interesting to see if he is as incisive as Kent Hughes.
Let's remember that, during his last press conference, General Manager Kent Hughes outright mentioned that the organization would probably not draft a left-handed defenseman. However, since then, things seem to have really changed, notably due to young talents like Sam Dickinson, Anton Silayev, and Zeev Buium.
We are so excited for Friday, and we can't wait to see what Jeff Gorton will have to say tomorrow.
Our personal choice for the 5th overall pick for the Montreal Canadiens is Ivan Demidov, but we are open to several options and we really trust Kent Hughes on this one.
