Dramatic turn: Matvei Michkov about to switch teams for an absurd reason?
Even several weeks after the NHL draft, young Matvei Michkov continues to be the talk of the town.
Today, we have a rather incredible new twist.
As the title suggests, despite his immense talent, Michkov might have to change teams soon.
While Alex Galchenyuk is now on his team's first line, Matvei Michkov finds himself in the stands and out of the lineup time and again.
His coach refuses to play him, which is incredible when you consider his talent. Clearly, he sees Galchenyuk as the better option for this season.
Notably, during the last three pre-season games, Matvei Michkov only played a mere thirteen minutes, even being left out of the last match.
And since the start of the season, he has been scratched from the lineup.
You can guess that this is causing quite a stir.
"I just saw this, but Matvei Michkov seems to have been scratched from the lineup for SKA's opening game.
Ivan Demidov (2024) is, however, in uniform and playing on the 4th line, being a year younger.
This, after Michkov was scratched during the pre-season.
Is the chess game starting? Hold on, Flyers fans." - Marco D'Amico Wow! To what extent could this escalate?
To the point where Michkov might actually change teams and be traded to another KHL team, a weaker one. (as was notably the case last season)
In short, it's becoming clearer why the Canadiens didn't want to deal with all these headaches. Let's just say it's challenging to develop a young player who's in the stands or playing as the 13th forward.
