Gary Bettman Makes Last-Minute Announcement on the Future of the Arizona Coyotes
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has just made a statement about the Arizona Coyotes, and Quebec Nordiques fans were watching.
Some had genuinely hoped to see the commissioner finally open his eyes after recent harsh criticism from high-ranking figures towards the Coyotes, but no.
In a special press conference in the last few minutes, Bettman repeated the same old message:
"Gary Bettman mentions that there is nothing new in the Coyotes' case. He adds that he continues to believe that Arizona remains an excellent market for hockey in his eyes." - Luc Gélinas, RDS
Many believe the Coyotes will be relocated to Salt Lake City or Atlanta (or Quebec for the most optimistic), and some might have expected an announcement today, but no.
On the contrary.
The NHL has just caused a surprise by already making an official announcement! They caught the media off guard and have already confirmed that the Coyotes will stay in Arizona for another season.
Wow...
"Bill Daly mentioned today that the Arizona Coyotes will play in Arizona next season, even if they are not able to purchase the land put up for auction (Phoenix) in June. Any potential relocation will have to wait another season." - Renaud Lavoie, TVA Sports
This is becoming ridiculous. Gary Bettman is sticking to his narrative from the past years despite everything.
Quebec Nordique fans must be livid about the situation..
