The Toronto Sun, one of the biggest daily newspapers in Toronto, blasted Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner on their front page for his horrible performances in the first two games of the playoffs.

While the Leafs managed to win game two against the Boston Bruins on Monday night, it wasn't because of Marner. He failed to stand out and create an impact for his team, leaving most of the work to Auston Matthews.

In fact, since he returned from his high ankle sprain a few weeks ago and was separated from Matthews on the lineup, he's been one of the worst players in Toronto.

According to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun, he's been "invisible" for the past two games.

Marner looked specially bad in game two, when he let Charlie McAvoy reach the puck first to avoid being hit.

As reported by Leafs Latest:

Fans aren't happy with Mitch Marner's effort on this play, and quite frankly, throughout the entire series. Has Marner's "lack of effort" been noticeable, or are fans overreacting?💙👇

Toronto media are hard on players, but that's what happens when you don't even put effort in your performances.

Some fans, however, don't agree with Simmons, and didn't refrain from speaking their minds on X.

Here's what a fan commented under Simmons' post:

"How is this allowed to go out in a 1-1 series before the Leafs' first home game? Disgusting behavior. Marner is a hometown boy who bleeds blue and white and is the heart and soul of this team. Shame on the Toronto Sun for hiring this hater."

Marner also got blasted live on the Missing Curfew podcast for his poor play:
