As the 2024 NHL Draft approaches, some very interesting information is starting to circulate about Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton's choice.
We've talked a lot about young Berkly Catton in recent days, who sees himself playing with Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsky, but it seems that the CH leadership has other plans.
The excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin has just provided some very interesting exclusive information regarding the CH and Kent Hughes' plan.
"Just to be clear, I don't think Sennecke would be the pick if the CH drafts in the 5th or 6th position. Not ahead of Lindstrom/Demidov, and there are likely to be 1-2 defensemen in the top 5.
But they might try to move up to select him in the 10-15 range." - Marc-Olivier Beaudoin
He is referring here to his previous publication:
The plan seems to be becoming clearer, at least according to the information circulating.
The play would be between Cayden Lindstrom and Ivan Demidov for the Canadiens' first pick, and for the Jets' first pick, the target would clearly be Beckett Sennecke. (with a possibility of making a trade to move up)
This is a case to follow, but it is really interesting to learn more, and it will be intriguing to see if it materializes in June.
Sennecke, 18 years old, is a 6 foot 2 inch, 175-pound winger who has collected 68 points in 63 games this season in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals. Last season, he had 55 points in 61 games.
Demidov, 18 years old, is a 5 foot 11 inch, 185-pound winger. He has collected 60 points in 30 games this season in St. Petersburg.
Cayden Lindstrom, 18 years old, is a 6 foot 3 inch, 215-pound center who has an incredible 46 points (27 goals) in 32 games this season in the WHL. (66 penalty minutes)
