A trade announced last season has just been completed between the Arizona Coyotes and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
You read that right.
How is this possible? This is a special case
Last season, specifically on February 19, 2022, the Leafs sent forward Nick Ritchie (plus a conditional draft pick), among others, to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Ilya Lyubushkin and Ryan Dzingel.
Well, that conditional pick has just taken effect.
Because of this trade, in the last few hours, Toronto just lost an ammunition for this trade deadline.
The Maple Leafs just sent their prized 2nd round pick in 2025 to the Coyotes to complete this trade (the one that sent Nick Ritchie to Arizona).
This season, Ritchie, 27, has 21 points in 56 games with the Coyotes.
As for Dzingel and Lyubushkin, they don't even play for the Toronto organization anymore (Dzingel is with the Hurricanes while Lyubushkin is in Buffalo).
That says a lot about the management of the Maple Leafs.
