Even though the Canadiens came out relatively empty-handed from the NHL trading period this year, it doesn't mean that Kent Hughes didn't try everything to improve his team.

However, it is quite possible that the Canadiens GM will make a strong comeback during the upcoming draft in Nashville in June.

At least that's the opinion of Guillaume Latendresse, who declared on the "La Poche Bleue le midi" show that Hughes could take advantage of this opportunity to trade forward Josh Anderson.

"At the moment, Josh Anderson could play in Calgary, Pittsburgh or Edmonton. Several teams could use a player like Josh Anderson. If he continues to play like this, his value will be at its highest during the draft. I don't think Kent Hughes will be able to pass on that."

As we know, there have been all sorts of rumors surrounding the Canadiens' number 17, but according to several experts, the team's management was very demanding in its requests.

Latendresse even mentioned that Anderson had probably reached his full potential and that the upcoming NHL draft could be the best time to send him to greener pastures.

"For some time now, Josh Anderson has been performing really well. We see the player we were supposed to get when we acquired him. He's physical, he skates and I find he's consistent every night. Even if it's not always perfect offensively, he manages to be solid. Lately, I really like what I see from Josh Anderson. This is the best hockey I've seen from Josh Anderson with the Canadiens."

All of this is encouraging, but does the Canadiens have the intention of sacrificing Josh Anderson in the upcoming weeks?

It's hard to say for now, but it should be mentioned that he is still under contract for four more seasons at an annual salary of $5.5 million. Some teams might be hesitant to acquire him, and Anderson will still be 29 years old next May.

As they say, this is a case to follow.
